Tues 2nd Oct – Forever blowing bubbles…….

Really enjoyed last night. It was nice to see a good mix of excellent keep ball and effective fast attacking play. We totally outplayed QPR for almost the whole game barring a ten minute spell when the two subs came on and we conceded the goal. It’s a nice solid start to the season with eleven points already in the bag and we can look forward to our biggest test of the season so far when we welcome Arsenal to Upton Park on Saturday. I thought QPR were desperately poor, Cisse looked so out of touch and it is clear all the new faces are not clicking just yet. Good to see Andy Carroll is back too, almost fully fit, with any luck he will replace Carlton Cole on Saturday, who still does all the hard work with ease but couldn’t hit a barn door from 3 yards.

Made the journey up to Coral TV Towers this morning, here for three days before heading back for the birthday bash! We have 4 spare seats on the coach trip to Ascot on Saturday if anyone is game. Get in touch in the usual routes. Should give a shout out to my mate Shevchenko. A very shrewd paddock judge that always points out a few gems when on track for Timeform. Rates himself as a striker I believe!

Fancy a couple today on the racing front. Be careful with your bets at Ayr, it was barely raceable yesterday so look for horses that like it soft. Not sure who the racing pundit is on Coral today, but if they fancy anything I’ll do my best to keep you informed via Twitter!

Lightly raced three-year old from the James Fanshawe yard who has been running with credit without winning. Has dropped a couple of pounds in the weights despite those efforts and this represents a decent chance of notching the first victory at the ninth attempt. Last time in particular he was a very solid third behind two well handicapped rivals that were both bang in form. He is a strong traveller that lacks a real turn of foot over the longer trips so I think the drop down to six furlongs could be really interesting as if Hayley can track the pace, his class may just carry him to the front here today. Very interesting.

A filly that almost jumped off the card at me this morning. She has only had five starts to date in her career. Last time she came back from a break to finish a respectable third behind the progressive Idler. She pulled quite hard that day and gave herself no real chance of victory. If she can settle today and get some cover then she could well be ahead of her mark and represents a great deal of value at 5/1.

Looking forward to all the champions league action tonight too. Hopefully see a victory for the Albion at the Amex to get their season back on track.

Be lucky…..IRONS
